I've always wondered why computers with air purifiers (instead of just fans) haven't gone mainstream. Why not combine the two and have a perfectly clean/cool computer while cleaning your air? Although I did hear of a computer completely submerged in some liquid (an oil or something) that kept it cool without exposing it to external contaminants. I guess the liquid didn't conduct electricity or corrode metal, as the liquid was actually in the computer (touching all the parts and whatnot).

I've seen all of that, and worse, excepting the mice. How the heck did they get in there? Or are there some mfrs still using open-frame switchers for power?

What makes you think the numnuts who let their vents/heat sinks get that disgusting would bother to clean out the filters in the purifier either? My computer has a large chunk of the front face as a metal mesh; makes stage 1 de-dusting easy since I just wipe it with my hand. A more complete cleaning is still a pain because I need to pop the front panel to get at the foam behind it; made worse by the fact that the main piece goes around the drive cages as a 1/4" wide strip and the empty drive bay plates are also meshed. There's also a fine plastic mesh filter immediate over each fan intake. It works well at stopping most of the dust from getting inside but I still need to take it apart and clean the filters twice a year or so. OTOH I am running at 100% load 24/7 in a godbox configuration. :cool: 2 dual slot GPUs, 3x120mm exhaust fans (2 blowing through the radiator for my water cooled CPU), and 4x120 mm intake fans (one cooling my HD bay, 3 blowing on the mobo). I have 2 small blower fans on the PWM heatsinks to help cool them since they're not getting airflow from the CPU fan. The PSU has 1x80 exhaust and 1x140mm intake fans (the latter pointed at a case opening so it draws cool air instead of case air). If I twiddled with the radiator mounting (mostly having the fans sucking instead of blowing air out) I could add two more 120mm exhaust fans. There's also space for an 80mm exhaust fan but at tolerable noise levels they don't move enough air to matter, also it'd only be moving air in the PUS compartment which doesn't need any help; there's room for a 120mm in there as well but in addition to the pointless factor it's mostly blocked by all the wiring connections for the other 4 fans and wire routing for the front panel controls/connectors.

And I thought the family desktop machine was bad X|. We live in a 135 year old house, which is incredibly dusty. Adding four cats and a chain-smoking wife to the mix, and I have to open the desktop machine up every couple of months and clean it out :sigh:.

When, after 6 months of going untouched, the computer emits an ear-piercing screech and says "You need to replace your computer's air purifier filter. Go to Amazon.com and search for product code A5G4LST1R." ;P But I'm not really concerned about them. I just want an easy way to buy such a case myself.

Look for companies that do custom case mods online. Of them could probably do the integration for you. It wouldn't be cheap, but that wasn't a requirement in the spec. ;P
