What ridiculous leap of logic is that? :wtf: I write software during the day, and in the evening I relax with computer games. My point was, that the games I play are only available for Windows. Buying a computer that is capable of playing games doesn't mean it won't run Visual Studio.

OK, I don't do that. I think buying an XBox or Wii makes more sense ( we have a Wii )

Well, given the abomination of garbage that is iTunes on Windows, I can't say I'm in a real hurry to experience it "for real".

I use PaintShop Pro 8 - it's old, but it works. Similarly, I use Office 2003, and it does exactly what I need it to do. My windows all run in Windows natively, and for me (and most everyone I've spoken to) Windows 7 just works. Any platform does not have the apps I need, and the platform is largely irrelevant once you're using your applications anyway.

I was being a little facetious. Also, check the links in my sig.

I play PC games that simply do not exist on other platforms (for example, http://www.fallenearth.com[^]). I have no interest in console games whatsoever.

Well, obviously it's not as powerful as yours - but I bet it also cost a hell of a lot less. Dual-core, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD and Radeon 4850 video driving a 17" screen at 1920x1200. Works great on everything I've asked it to do. I can't imagine needing 20GB RAM for much of anything - even our IIS/SQL servers at work don't have that much. The point of my post was basically saying I have absolutely no desire to get a Mac. I have no need of anything it may or may not do. Windows does everything I need and I have no complaints. Windows 7 and an MSI laptop works for me. Your mileage of course, may (and very likely will) vary.

Boxers or briefs Ginger or Mary Ann What languages have you programmed in (Assembly Cobol, PL/1, Fortran, Pascal, Ada, Lisp, C, C++, VB, C#) What was your first personal computer (Atari 400, Apple 1, Commodore 64, Pet, TRS-80, etc) When did you start programming *for a living* (probably have to use date ranges to keep it simple) During daylight hours, what can you see from the window nearest to your computer? A4 is illegal now? :omg:

Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

Why not ask if people are planning on developing for the iPad, and/or owning one ? Seems timely. Or ask 'why have you not bought a Mac yet ?' Had to vote you a 5, thats rather ammusing. But Windows isnt that bad, its the third party SW that tends to kill it. Its too popular you see, and SW engineering for a popular device will always be of lower quality.
