I got a HTC Hero with Android 1.6 on it - from Sprint. $130/month. Phones were $179 each, but the plan itself is $35/month cheaper than Verizon. Lesson learned (already) - don't speak an address for navigation - it makes a call to a land line which uses minutes.

.45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly

Isn't Sprint's simply everything plan only $99/month which includes unlimited calls, data, and text messaging?

They also have a simply everything minus land line calls. Which is $89/month with about 900 minutes for calling land line phones. My guess is that he is adding all the monthly access fees which jack up the bill quite a bit. I am using a Hero myself and it is good but not perfect. It still needs to be reset after a few days of use because it starts to run sluggishly. Also make sure you update it as it fixes a few random reset issues and other bits and pieces. My guess is that they are selling up to date phones but one never knows.

Verizon wants $165 (and that doesn't count text charges). FWIW, I had them block incoming and outgoing text. I'd love to be able to remove the facebook and twitter crap that I'll never use, but it seems as if it's part of the OS. I also accidentally added SprintTV to my main desktop screen, and despite several attempts, I can't remove it.

Is some of that fee down payments on the phone? I'd need 3 months of surfing all the time to even come close to your figures!

1500 shared minutes (two phones, and only consumed when you call a landline or (I think) voicemail), unlimited data (web email, stuff like that), free nationwide long distance. The phones themselves were fairly expensive ($179 after mail-in rebate). The important thing is that the wife finds it fairly easy to use. I also figured out how to delete the SprintTV thing from the desktop. :)
