You might want to rephrase that, it looks like two questions that might get opposite answers. :)

I only read code that is properly formatted, adding PRE tags is the easiest way to obtain that.
[The QA section does it automatically now, I hope we soon get it on regular forums as well]

Yes! I started using it based on recommendations by Shog and Rajesh. It’s cheap, it does not seem to be a resource hog.

...if by "using" you mean "installing it on other people's computers after ripping out their existing virus software". ;) I've done this several times now. It installs quickly, doesn't chew up a lot of system resources, and updates without fuss. No idea how well it actually protects against viruses, but frankly I have my doubts about the effectiveness of any AV product - it's just voodoo i do to keep people from installing something worse. Wrote a bit more about it a while ago...[^]

I feel the same way about CA Antivirus. After the nightmares created by Norton and McAfee on various machines, I switched to CA and heve never since looked back. It updates peacefully, without interrupting anything I'm doing, quietly assassinates any intruders it finds, and never makes a fuss. I have no idea whether it's working or not, but I've never had a virus damage my computer since I switched about 12 years ago. Maybe I'm just lucky, and it's really doing nothing. Or maybe somebody finally got it right... :)

yes...been using it for about 3 months now...no issues to report at all... MS SE at home and CA Anti-Virus at office...the winning combination :-D

We used CA at work for years. It was a subtle, no-nonsense program, but more than doubled my compile times even when instructed to exclude all source files, compilers, and associated tools from active scanning. :-( I put up with it until the network admin disabled my ability to configure the thing locally... then it had to go.

Bummer... I don't blame you for disposing of it - it was obviously time for it to go. Completely off-topic: I spent the evening at the Colorado Belle, where we were boozing through the night a few years ago, and won $270. Wish you were here! ;P

:D Was just thinking about that a few days back - a former neighbor called me from Lake Havasu, asked if I'd forward his mail there. And of course, he had to brag about sitting in the sun, working on his trailer while I was getting snowed on.

A few years ago, desktops we purchased from PC Club (no longer around) came with a subscription AV program (don't remember the product name, but it wasn't one of the well known players) that they installed thru their internal network - when I tried to uninstall it, it wanted to get the msi using the network path ... so there was no way to uninstall it ... I ended up creating a customer support account on their website so I could download an "update" and then install the update so I could uninstall the whole thing  what a PITA!

I use it on all my machines, and when cleaning up other people's machines too I tend to wipe whatever turd AV they're using for it, if they're evening using one... It's free, lightweight, and just stays out of my way. Brilliant
