I would watch the Olympics if they weren't professional athletes.

Kent, Are you referring to Youtube's quick cleansing of non-copyrighted videos? Because I see that happen with Cricket highlights that are uploaded after a game. They get removed often within 15-20 minutes of someone uploading it. Sometimes it's weird - they don't remove the video, they just strip the audio off.

Kent, Are you referring to Youtube's quick cleansing of non-copyrighted videos? Because I see that happen with Cricket highlights that are uploaded after a game. Yeah. I figure that with the Olympic committee being so feral about "protecting" the brand, that any videos posted will get pulled down very fast. 15-20 minutes?! That's faster than I expected - do the Cricket orgs have people monitoring all the snowboarding dog and angsty teen videos just to keep them out of the feed? Makes me want to start posting Cricket videos.

The speed skating and sliding sports like luge, skeleton etc are not to be missed for the body suits alone. ;) I've been watching the torch relay live on http://www.ctvolympics.ca/video/CTV/index.html[^] However I'm *in* Canada so I'm not sure if it will work for you or not. There's always http://www.nbcolympics.com/[^] which has much nicer picture galleries.

I was surprised too. Since most games are not telecast in the US, I usually wait an hour or so after the game's ended and then search on Youtube and sort on upload-time. People upload it in parts - so by the time I get to Part 3, the remaining parts are all gone! It's amazing how they do that - maybe they actually have hired folks monitoring Youtube.

So you want to benefit from all the work the television stations do to televise the Olympics, but you aren't prepared to support them in any way?

Is that this year? Time again for all of the great prime-time television (I can't even say that with a straight face :) ) gets replaced with dull sporting events, huh? Great... Maybe it'll finally motivate me to stop watching so much TV.

What difference does that actually make? If I'm watching the Olympics to see incredible feats of athleticism I don't care if the people are making money off their efforts. The pro status makes a lot of sense for some of those sports anyway. You would have to pay me to do curling. No way I'm sweeping in front of overweight tea pots if I'm not being paid to. I'd be pro right from the start. On the other hand though, the ski jump would be far more entertaining if the people involved were rank amateurs...

Unfortunately today, Nodar Kumaritashvili died during a Luge run, there is video of it, though most sites either refuse or have been restricted from showing it. It's a very gruesome video, hitting a steel post at 90mph, and some still pictures are also out there...his helmet did nothing to save him. May the Lord rest his soul in Peace... :(( :((

No, I don't think it is. I think it's a reasonable question to ask someone who appears to want to get something for nothing. As a software developer, you earn your living by creating intellectual property, don't you? But you haven't answered the question. It's a simple question... Yes or no? If you expect to get something for free, just say so. And while you're at it, would you care to explain why you think it's "assine"?
