What you wanting to do with it? Its basically about IO and shield compatibility. I have 3 x Duemilanove and survived with them for the time being, haven't built anything big enough yet to justify a mega.

I have seen some good projects/robotics with Arduino and thought I would try it out. I was wondering which one the majority of people had bought.

If you haven't used them before, then it would probably be best to start with the D. and then as your projects get larger move upto the M. If you are building a basic trundle robot then the D would be sufficient. As i said earlier, its down to how many IO you need (analog and digitals) and also what sort of shields you plan on using. If you search youtube or Arduino, there is some pretty good stuff folk have built. (i want to build a laser harp for the kids!) i have been playing with the arduino for the last few months now, and have been putting some of the basic howto's and source code up on my website[^]. The first proper project i built was an Arduino clone of the SIMON game. (there is an article on CP here [^]about it and also on my site.) My mate is quite a techy when it comes to this sort of things and he is into GPS stuff/ quad copters and all sorts, he has also started putting stuff on his site at http://www.ianjohnston.com[^]

I'm glad I got the academic discount. Mind you the FPGA that's on the board is ~$300 and the development kit itself is ~$380... :wtf:
