Look out for the next satellite launch and ask if the OS can be placed as storage on the payload, this hopefully should make the OS a lot faster.

All right, you guys, I got eight crates of Ipecac from Mort. All on my tab. Now, whoever goes the longest without puking gets the last piece of pie in the fridge.

Hmm, dont know how you would measure it, but you would have to wath out for that satellite data being 'adjusted'! :)

Although XP will run in 256Mb of ram, I wouldn't recommend it (and did notice that the service packs made it worse for small ram PCs). And although the minimum spec for VS is 256Mb that is also the recommended minimum for .NET alone. I would find it painful to run VS in less than 1Gb - it would be really slow. If your ram is that low, then there is a good chance your HDD is also pretty small, which will restrict the size of your swap file - this may cause problems with running VS. My order of priorities for running XP with VS: RAM - 1GB is a good minimum. HDD - 80GB or bigger. Monitor: Big as you can get. Processor - 1.2G Athlon or faster. Basically: the lower the spec, the less you load. Every App you install will slow the PC down a bit, for some stupid reason.

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends? Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines. If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

Go: 1. Start 2. Run 3. Enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) 4. Stop & disable anything you don't like the look of. 5. Restart the computer. If it won't restart, use System Restore, then repeat steps 1-5, but stop & disable a few less things. I'll tell ya, this computering stuff is just too easy!

I know you believe you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I meant.

                                        Ram: 3GB

How much? Even W7 does not have that amount as a recommendation. Microsoft say: "Microsoft recommends that computers running Windows XP have at least 128 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM) installed. For this memory size, Windows XP has shown itself to be consistently superior to previous versions of Windows."

I know you believe you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I meant.

You could try not beating a dead horse and either replace your PC or upgrade it. Upgrading the RAM alone will help at least a little. But not knowing what specs you have I'm going to assume it's running on a Pentium II and by all means should be put in a wood chipper.
