...at least that's how it feels. I just downloaded and installed Windows Live Messenger* and suddenly all I get from the Windows Live server is an unstyled page saying 'Service Unavailable". There's clearly no cause and effect going on, but it gives me an insight into some of the emails I occasionally get: "I posted a message and broke the servers" "I uploaded an image and broke the servers" "I made disparaging remarks about John Simmons and my computer just exploded in a ball of molten metal" * Whatever happened to plain old "Windows Messenger" as a name...

Well, there's your problem right there :) Me, I'll stick with Pidgin.

Does Pidgin still work with using hotmail accounts? I tried the other day but all it said was "Unable to connect", but WLM connected straight away.

I know you believe you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I meant.

Does that mean that they are changing the name to 'Windows Dead'?

I'm happy to back you up on this. Just remember, when you get your religion established and it's time to start sacrificing virgins, I better invited to the parties. :)

Funny, I could've sworn it went down because they detected my first attempt to use SharedView with an actual customer.

Yep, I have a hotmail account, and I'm connected to it via Pidgin. Also on my GMail, Yahoo. and AIM.
