I updated the caching settings last night to make client side caching more aggressive in order to speed things up. However, this should not have affected dynamic pages such as the lounge, and should not have had any affect on our server-side caching of messages. Please let me know if caching issues with messages is showing more-than-normal weirdness and I'll go grab a large spanner. Or wrench, for you North American types ;)

It definitely does. I had never experienced any problem so far, I had several occurrences in the last few hours. I have indeed lost a post as Cpianism did, and _everytime_ I enter the Lounge, I have to refresh the cache to update the view. (I must acknowledge, I do leave the Lounge from time to time, when closing the browser by mistake :-O ).

If it's a local caching/cookie problem, you can fix it. If it's a remote caching problem, it will disappear on its own. There's not much sense in getting paranoid over imperfections in the Internet. No-one is actually out to get you, but even if they were, it's only the Internet!. Real life is tougher, worse, easier, and better.

A flurry of messages about "missing" postings smacks loudly of paranoia. If a posting is deleted, a deletion message is put in its place. The only other reasons for postings not being visible/present are lags or caching problems, which don't merit discussion unless they become really bad (and then not in the Lounge).

Although the thought of eliminating the "r" did occur to me, we do tend to say wrench when there are nuts to tighten. Wait, perhaps I should rephrase that... I was simply alluding to the fact that only a novice would use a spanner / wrench. Real men just whack things with a hammer.

...but a certain individual in here does have a point(!). This morning I've experienced A LOT more caching issues than normal in here. It most certainly isn't local cache either, as that's the first to go when I experince abnormal behaviour. I'm not too concerned though - I'm sure it's just a fad if even that, but I figured it was worth mentioning that his earlier post might not have been completely unfounded. I suppose stating that will expose me to a world of pain and univoting, but right should be right. //L

How is it now? We turned off some caching on web21
