I would, but they weren't born then ;) I suppose I could blame my grandparents. Seriously though, what part of Oz do you live in? I've checked and I could qualify for automatic entry based on my current situation with a Skilled Independent Visa and I'd really like to live somewhere on the gold coast. I'm just not sure there's enough work in that area.

There's always work on the Gold Coast, I reckon. Sydney would be your best bet, but that would be like living in hell. I am in Tasmania.

He's a liar. I don't drink beer, but if you like it, I can't imagine how you'd have trouble finding a good one here, there's breweries everywhere.

I don't fancy Sydney, it's overcrowded and expensive. Like living here, only hotter. I like the look of Brisbane though, or one of its suburbs.

Really? I'm quite surprised to hear that, I've always found that's it's portrayed positively. Where would you suggest as an alternative?

Sorry about the joke (Or was it???). I guess Australia is the place for young people to go these days and probably quite right too. I wish you luck heading off to sunnier climes.

Any tips? I'm fed up with England - it's cold, overcrowded and expensive. I crave a warm climate, the outdoor life and great beaches. Is Australia all it's cracked up to be? I have a wife and a small baby and I'd like to make the break in the next year or two, has anyone here made the move? What's the software development industry like out there?

I heard New Zealand is easier to get into, and its WAY prettier than Australia. And its got skiing! Dont know how good the IT game is there though. ANyway, I agree,. The UK has such appaling weather and is so overcrowded in the SE at least.

Yeah, if I'm honest it's a downside. I don't like the idea of my little boy playing in the back garden and coming across a poisonous {insert dangerous animal here}. However, it's pretty rare so it's a risk worth taking I think.

Really? Here in the Netherlands we have many English/Dutch 2-language signs.. And everyone here speaks English (with "everyone" I mean "everyone who also speaks Dutch and is of reasonable age") .. to some degree anyway.. Of course France would be hopeless though :) edit: but of course if you're moving for the weather, the Netherlands doesn't help at all, the weather isn't any better than in the UK

Yeah, if I'm honest it's a downside. I don't like the idea of my little boy playing in the back garden and coming across a poisonous {insert dangerous animal here}. However, it's pretty rare so it's a risk worth taking I think.
