It is unsustainable to fight preemptive wars and occupy the entire globe. There is a simple process to war. It goes like this: 1.) Country commits an act of war against us. 2.) We declare war on that country. 3.) We relentlessly slaughter them on their own lands, and destroy their infrastructure while keeping them as far away from our lands as possible. 4.) If not surrender repeat step 3. 5.) After surrender, negotiate terms.

We would have been there earlier, if not for the self-centric isolationist agenda you see spouted by CSS. That was our policy, more or less, until Japan woke us up with a kick to the naval rear end. Now, we're being very sure not to make that mistake again. I think WW2 perfectly illustrates the argument against isolationism... Even if a country does not directly attack us, an unchecked war will eventually affect everyone. If we had stepped into WW2 earlier, I bet a lot of lives could have been saved, including (But obviously not limited to) all of the AMERICAN lives lost at Pearl Harbor. And if Japan hadn't screwed up by waking the sleeping lion, as they say, the Nazis may well have taken over Europe, expanded for a while (Hey, none of OUR business, right?), and eventually come at us in force. Better to stop these things as early as possible. (No offense intended to the Europeans... You guys put up a hell of a fight and took a lot of punishment. We just tipped the scales.)

If an enemy force thinks that they will fill in the vacuum and launch a campaign of command & conquer, then there would be a real war. Unlike the "war" we are "fighting" in the middle east, we would declare war on the country responsible, and strike them down hard, relentlessly slaughtering and destroying non-stop until they surrender. Of course. But those assets located in other countries and territories not owned by (as in "leased" to) the United States, once you decide to leave, you will create a vacuum. That vacuum sooner or later will get occupied, not necessarily by somebody else's armed forces, but it could just be that. And once you leave such areas you no longer have claim to those assets (the air base, the naval dockyard, the army base). An example ... The British Territory of Diego Garcia (in the Indian Ocean), if your United States Air Force chose to depart that island, what rights would you have if Britain then leased the base to another country, or Britain re-occupied the base with its own armed forces, of if Britain just returned it to its original human inhabitants, or if Britain washed it hands of it completely. Thus, you would no longer have use or claim to the land and buildings located at that air base. A vacuum would thus exist. And this vacuum might be filled by either friendly or hostile-to-America forces. What could you do ... Legally nothing ... The air base would be no longer yours to do whatever with.

When I offered to pay for him to get a psych evaluation, he said there's no way he'd submit to that, or ever take drugs that were prescribed for him. He's made clear he has no issue with unprescribed mind altering drugs, but that's hardly the biggest act of hypocrisy he's ever been guilty of.
