I was having a chat with Christian recently about his home produce and it got me to thinking. I have a bit of land, and I was thinking about a polytunel and then I saw this: The Importance of Carbon Dioxide (Co2) for Healthy Plant Growth [^] Do you think it would work as wel in a polytunnel as a greenhouse? I would mostly be growing peppers and aubegines. Does anyone have any experience of CO2 enrichment for increased crop yield in greenhouses?

Probably better - less gas would escape from a well made polytunnel, I'd imagine?

I think you'd need a lot of it to make a difference. At that point I don't think a home grower could do it without it being economically impractical. Depending on what you're growing, temperature, nutrients, and water are you're biggest challenges. In the midwest it was very cool and tomatoes didn't grow like they had in the past. I usually grow my stuff in beds enriched with compost covered with thick black plastic and mulch. Some plants have particular nutrient favorites like tomatoes liking magnesium. Yes, its well known that that evil pollutant, CO2 is excellent for growing your big bud et al. CO2 enrichment for the hobby grower[^] A mate grew some big bud once in his spare room. Hydroponic. He had a CO2 tank in the corner he used to crack open every now and then. The crop was really quite staggering, and as for the quality. Well, I had to try a bit. I was a gibbering zombie in about 15 seconds.
