Is that the one that postulates... "In any response highlighting a spelling or grammatical error, that response has a better than 90% chance of itself containing an error"?

That's the one. Named after a chap on alt.usage.english, who wishes it weren't.

You'd get away with it. "Semantical" was added later, because people kept contracting it from the adverb ("semantically"), rather than expand it from the noun. That happens a lot.

According to my dictionary, both forms are valid. Main entry is "semantic", which lists one variant, "semantical". I, however, don't like the sound of "semantical".

That's the best reason in the world not to use it. If no-one likes it, no-one will use it, and it will disappear.

Unless it is so lamented that they constantly discuss how much they hate it and it becomes infamous, being noted in history books throughout the ages as the most hated word.

Which is also one of the most beloved words. Much like that other four-letter word (that starts with "F") that can mean something very fun and can indicate great displeasure (hint: you might yell it when you hit your toe with a hammer).

Curious selection of digit. I shall spend the rest of this Friday afternoon figuring out how to get into the position of hitting one's toe with a hammer.

This morning Mrs Wife said something to one of our daughters in Hungarian; nothing exciting there. I, the non-Hungarian, pointed out that she had made a grammatical, and thus semantical [happy now, you b'ards!], mistake in the way she had conjugated the verb. I was right. It's one thing to correct semi-literate programmers here - technical people are easy targets as the only languages they feel comfortable with don't involve communicating with people, and retribution is difficult. But to correct one's wife is just damnfoolishness! Go for the low hanging fruit, and preserve domestic tranquility for a happy, rewarding life... :)
