Not to mention the 200 shades of white that most paint shops stock. In my world there's matt white and gloss white and they come in 10L tubs for a fiver but then there's barley white, meadow white, ice white, coal white, skidmark white etc that are 500ml for a tenner. Fools, money blah blah...

Actually, yeah, but not that much. Some color vision defects affect 8% of men but only (IIRC) 2% of women. Still, "Sea foam"?

I believe the organization on the guys side is a little wrong. The first 3 I would call red. Orchid I would call blue. Well at least its blue on my monitor. There are only 2 pinks in the list. The rest are purple. Orange is fine. Yellow takes the first item from Green. And the rest is fine.

Red is a color. Orchid is a flower, salmon is a fish, Plum is a fruit, turquoise is a stone, spring is a season. Now, let's haggle about orange... Oh, and I can make yellow "Sea foam".

My favourite ever colour name, found in a paint shop (and now confirmed on the web as not being something I dreamed up after a weird cigarette) is Moon Carrot[^] To think someone must have got paid for thinking that up...

Yep they did, just so they could then register it as trademark/copyright (forget which applies to colours)
