                                    Indeed, that's how I was going to phrase that, until I noticed this definition of "ego":

                                    Dictionary:

                                    the one of the three divisions of the psyche in psychoanalytic theory that serves as the organized conscious mediator between the person and reality especially by functioning both in the perception of and adaptation to reality

                                    He doesn't seem to have that mediator component to tell the difference between reality and being into himself. And he certainly doesn't seem capable of adapting (just keeps up to his same old ways).
