I signed up for azure during the CP promo thingy...and forgot about it... Today I get a bill in my email from them for $77...Apparently the CP app I uploaded used 680 units of the 25 free so the rest was billable. ok...shame on me, I didn't bother messing with it enough to make sure that wasn't going to happen. So today I login to cancel the account or at least remove the project... Nope, I've been clicking links on this god awful website for 2 hrs and can't figue out a way to do either... can anyone here point me in the right direction? Of course this isn't the "right" place to ask but I figured that since there are several others here that did the same thing I did, someone probably knows how to stop it... -edit2- called MS...pleaded my case...they removed the charges as a "one time credit"

I had posted a thread here warning people of this very thing. I deleted the service before the trial expired. Wish you had seen that thread. Anyway you are not the only one to have got bitten by this.

Not a scam. It's a genuine bill from Azure! I had warned people about this a few weeks ago. The CP article details explicitly mentioned this too and advised people to remove the service early enough lest they got billed.

Does Azure have a billing/usage web page similar to AWS? I've not seen one.

On the top-right of the browser, you'll see a Billing link (when you are logged in on the Azure portal).

I don't remember what I did. Once you login, you see the default project, click on it and you'll see your apps (or worker roles or services, not sure what the proper term is). Disable each app, and then delete them. You cannot delete an app until you disable it first.

I think Christian meant that Azure was a brilliant scam.

Does this apply to the first contest as well? I haven't been billed for anything.

Well I didn't get billed either but I did remove my app a few weeks ago. I don't know if I'd have got billed had I not done that. Have you checked the email address associated with the .NET passport/Live Id? It may be different from your signup email. And perhaps that's what they use for communication.

Just ask Jeff Hadfield for his CC number - I'm sure he's good for it. :)

Not a scam. It's a genuine bill from Azure! I had warned people about this a few weeks ago. The CP article details explicitly mentioned this too and advised people to remove the service early enough lest they got billed.
