Yep, quite boring, although I'm happy for the result. Besides, I think refuellings were very fun. You know, at least something/someone would burst out in flames once in a while... :-D

Good old Ferrari. I don't know if they're on form or just that everybody else is so off-form, but unless the rest of the field start competing - and given there's what 5-6 former world champions in this season it needs to happen quickly - it'll turn into the usual processional farce.

First race of the season, and blimey was that dull. I hope this isn't how the rest of the season is going to pan out.

I find racing not dull but immensely mind-numbing. Whoosh. Whoosh. Whoosh. End of race. No brutal hit over long off. No diving catch. No swing that kisses the outside edge on its way to the keeper. Even football has some nice passes and diving saves. :|

Cheers, Vikram. (Got my troika of CCCs!)

F1 is a lot like that and has been for years. It wasn't always like that, though. Back in the 80's there was real competitiveness and it was a lot more exciting. If you watched something like Touring Car racing you'd probably find it a lot more interesting.

Cricket's a different story; it has it's moments, but they're always sandwiched around long spells of people standing around doing nothing. As for football

Why? It is more interesting to watch a football/soccer match than cricket.

That's a thumbs down to football, not a critique of Vikram's opinion of football :)

I didn't saw that. I guess some new drivers and teams have been added this season. Also, with no re-fuelling, life of guys in pitstop has become a bit easier.

I have nothing against the game per se, but the players are insufferable. Too many cheats, pulling opponents' shirts, bumping into them, throwing themselves... and when they are caught, they get down on their knees and beg, or give utterly shocked looks. "Me? :omg: I didn't even touch him, I promise!" Yes, some cricketers are corrupt too, but at least, there are people who walk before the umpire gives them out and disclaim a catch even before the umpire can refer it. I've never seen a footballer disclaim a goal because he used his hand.

Formula 1 races tend to be dull. I blame the harnessing of the ground effect and the use of automatic transmissions. It has become less about driver skill and more about technology.

I had a similar opinion until I drove a Hayabusa. Try driving a superbike once. You'll then know what that "whoosh" feels like. It feels like a dream, you'll wonder inside that helmet thinking if this kind of acceleration is even possible. During my first drive, I was at 160 KPH in seconds (and the damn thing was still accelerating until I realised I was driving fast). I'm saving money for one (will either be a busa, an R1 or an MT01). I'm almost positive that people at home won't allow me to buy one. But in that case I'll just buy a car. F1 races are amazing! May it be cars or bikes. :)

Well actually transmission is not automatic, but robotized. They have to shift gears manually, they just don't have to use the clutch (unless they have to stop).

In Bangalore, you won't be able to get into second gear given the traffic we have. Nice road could be a place to drive those but that too is not that great. If you were in Delhi, NH8 or DND flyway would have been heaven during night. I have driven there and the feeling when you are easily cruising at quite high speeds cannot be expressed in words.

I've never liked the game. I hated playing it when I was younger and I hate watching it. It's not even a particularly fun or interesting game, so quite why footballers are paid quite so well to mooch up and down a field for 90 minutes is beyond me.
