I promise to deliver a well written summary. On a serious note, the smaller your capital investment the larger your personal investment must be. Make sure, however, the business you are starting is something you can attract business to and not perform the work for. Sure, in the beginning you will be doing both. But after you get started you should do less implementation and more solicitation. The amount is really irrelevant. Although with good credit 5k can become $30k (small business loan) and if you are in the U.S. there are SBA micro grants and loans available to bring your total to $50k if you really try.

Don't worry your pretty little head. Just send me the money, and I'll sort it out for you.

And you don't worry about the money or all this sorting out business, either. Just send it over, and I'll take care of it for you.... :)

Me, I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest.
Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for...

You do not even need $5000 in that case. :)

... to do that. Jokes apart, you can start a company for $200. Yes that's all it takes to register :) Here is Guy Kawasaki's article on How I built a Web 2.0, User-Generated Content, Citizen Journalism, Long-Tail, Social Media Site for $12,107.09 [^] If you ignore the legal fees and save the development costs by developing yourself, you can come to the $5000 mark. Remember, it takes very less to start a company but takes a lot to run one.

After read further, I think the title of that article needs to be re-written. "How I blew 12K on a yet another worthless, copycat Web 2-Point-Blow site that's of less use than a urinary tract infection in a senile South American sloth." Lead on Mr Kawasaki, lead on. X|

Huh? Do you know that he sold Truemors for far, far more than $12,000? :) [edit] Ok! I did not state the fact is that he was able to sell it because he was Guy Kawasaki. Other smart people may not succeed doing the same. [/edit]

You're asking for someone to provide you with a sense of humour?! Seriously, from what you've said, you just need to market your product to encourage sales. Either market locally, or use the internet (which you said you don't believe in). I'm sure a quick search of google will yield you some results as to global or local marketing companies.

During the dotcom days, entrepreneurs had to raise $5 million to try stupid ideas. Now I’ve proven that you can do it for $12,107.09.

Wow, that's a huge savings on trying out stupid ideas!

You don't beleive in online advertising, and you are promoting a website :WTF:. You could try putting an advert in the Evening Chronicle[^] with a cut-out and keep coupon for reductions to entice people. I'll be right back with more ideas when I've changed the fuse on my sarcasm-o-meter.

I guess it's a bit like applauding someone for having "skill" after winning the Lottery. Hell I could win a couple of million with by purchasing a lottery ticket today, surely that's a far better return on investment? If it's a stupid idea, and everyone with a shred of common sense knows this, why on earth are you wasting time on it? It's celebrating mediocrity.

You don't beleive in online advertising, and you are promoting a website :WTF:. You could try putting an advert in the Evening Chronicle[^] with a cut-out and keep coupon for reductions to entice people. I'll be right back with more ideas when I've changed the fuse on my sarcasm-o-meter.

t's not that. It's not exactly a website. it's a software as a service. Advertising by itself is a random poor process of reaching people - the probability of a hit and conversion stand good only if it's a common service or some airline ticket booking stuff. In my case it's a Software application - hosted as a SaaS.Need some people with patience to understand it.
