with San Francisco! My first foray into the United States and this place looks great. :) Apart from my actual work, I've earmarked plenty of time for sight-seeing. Any suggestions on places to see? And the streets are so organized here that I got lost

Well, I figured the politicians and the lawyers would at least make good fertilizer, since they're all so full of shit.

Market Street after dark, (or after 9pm), then you will have a more balanced view of San Francisco.

When I was a kid I went to the Exploratorium: http://www.exploratorium.edu/[^] It was like heroine for an aspiring nerd. I wanted to live there... There are massive numbers of really nice restaurants in SF to try. Just don't stay too long: get out before California collapses into anarchy.

A matter of semantics only. I'm reminded of a couple of my favorite lawyer jokes: Q: What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A: A good start. Q: Why did the shark not eat the swimming lawyer? A: Professional courtesy.

Fisherman's Wharf and Japanese Tea Garden are my favorite SF places.

The penninsula rocks. I used to live in Mountain View; before that, in Cupertino. (And before that Santa Clara, San Jose...) Check out Big Basin (or, alternatively, the Armstrong grove in Sonoma); hit a winery first and hang in the big trees catching a buzz. Hard to beat. :-D

I was stationed at Moffet Field way back when and lived in Mountain View as well.
