What kind of screen iPad has? I was under impression it was something like LCD screen, and not eInk like Kindle.

Yes, and I am surprised how well the e-book reader applications work. I read a few chapters from few books without any eye strain. It worked ok outdoors too.

Frankly, I would have waited for a year before buying this had it not been for a contracting work. But once I have started playing with it, it seems to be pretty awesome though it has a few drawbacks.

Pshaw I'm using an HTC as a reader and it is excellent. I started with an iPaq and it did a good job but now I only need 1 widget for phone and reader, this is the only valid justification (besides "I want it") I have found for buying one of the new fangled phones.

Well, as per the deal with my wife, the iPad goes to her after I finish my development work. So probably she feels a little taller.

Can the unit be upgraded to the 3G version or will you have to get another one when the iPad 3G comes out?

You have to get another one when 3G comes out. That was the big d cision for me, even though for dev purpose, Wifi is good enough, my thought was that 3G would have been a better idea as an end user. I eventually leaned towards wifi only model.

:cough: Yeah..I agree. :-D I would love to hear the story that you told to your wife. :-O I took my wife to Apple store on the launch day. But couldn't buy one. :) I couldn't decide between upgrade to my current iPhone 3G (assuming new iPhone model coming up in the summer) and iPad.
