Why MS licensing sucks today

So I renewed my VS subscription this week in anticipation of teh VS2010 release. First their pricing model doesn't make sense. Rather than simply renew my current subscription, which I've had for over five years, I purchased a new subscription. Since they are upgrading everyone when VS2010 is released, it was cheaper, by half the cost, to buy a lower level and get the automatic upgrade. I could have kept my original level and paid twice the cost for being a loyal subscriber, or which I did, pay half and get an upgrade. Luckily my subscription expired in time for me to take advantage of this. I'd be pissed if I had to continue paying twice as much for what everyone else got for free. After going through all of the process, the account was associated with the wrong Windows Live login so I couldn't get to it. Got that straighten out for the most part. Now, after finally getting there the licensing center is offline until Monday afternoon, Pacific time!, so there is no way I'll be able to login and setup my MSDN access and download VS when it is released. Luckily my old account is still valid until the end of the month.
