Chess players out there?

Could someone please advise a good Chess game program, I have been looking at ChessMaster 9000 (Ubi Soft). I would prefer maybe something like animated Chess where the pieces battle. Any links to online chess, game demos, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

I guess Fritz is the best commercially available one. www.kasparov.com[^] www.pogo.com[^] On both sites you can play with other people. On kasparov.com, you can play with computers also.

You mean Archon? I know there have been several different versions over the past several years. The first time I played it was on my Commodore 64, back in 1986. In CGA graphics, no less ;) -Sean

For a beginner ;P, which you obviously seem to be I would recommend yahoo chess -http://games.yahoo.com/games/login2?page=ch I just think it is more user friendly and there are many more online players here than elsewhere. I think that anyone who is interested in 'pieces fighting' has to be a beginner!:laugh: Yahoo also does chess ladders which was really cool when it was free (I got to the top 30). Y'know, if that were implemented well, you could have a popular game on your hands! Instead of grabbing weapons, you could pick up "movement styles". Of course, strategy would probably change immensely with 16 players per team, and real-time action... ;P John
