So priests sodomise children because the kids know about sex? Damn those kids, tempting grown men like that! No wonder they call it a Seminary, they have to learn how to dissipate their semen. "Suffer little children to come unto me"

That is just unbelievable, isn't it? Openly, shamelessly blame the victims. Anything at all, as long as it doesn't involve an honest appraisal of themselves.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, religion is evil. I do not have a problem with spirituality or faith, but it is the power, politics and money that lays at the basis of religion that causes grief in this world.

Absolutely. Jesus, Budha, Muhammed - all were probably great men. They obviously inspired people around them to try and be better individuals. That's an admirable thing. The trouble starts when lesser men get involved and it becomes, as you say, all about power and money. Organized religion seems to inevitably drift away from anything good that might have originally inspired it. In the case of the Catholic church, it seems their internal policies of celibacy, etc, have created an extreme example. Institutional hypocrisy.

"Seminar" also has its roots in "semen".

For the record: I absolutely despise what these priests have done. And if I had my way they'd be hung by there balls. But:

I don't think he was doing that. I think he was referring to the priest getting this sex education when he is young, therefor being better informed about it and making it harder for him to keep his vows. That being said, it still is no excuse (there is NONE for child abuse) for what they did.

Yes, now tops on the list of why priests can't be held accountable for their perversion - it's all the fault of sex education[^]. Damn those kids... 'Mexican educators and officials defended the country's public school sex education Friday from criticism by a Roman Catholic bishop who said such teachings make celibacy vows more difficult for priests to keep.' 'On Thursday, Bishop Felipe Arizmendi said that "when there is generalized sexual licentiousness, it is more common to have pederasty." "In the midst of the invasion of so much eroticism, it is not easy to remain faithful in celibacy, or in respecting children," Arizmendi, the bishop of the San Cristobal de las Casas diocese in Chiapas state, said at a meeting of Mexican bishops.' Those poor, poor priests. It's hard enough keeping their dicks in their pants under ordinary circumstances, but this is just too much to expect them to resist. The Catholic Church should just do everyone a favor and flush itself down the nearest toilet. It's a sick organization that has been overrun by sick people. X|

Slightly extreme view but not entirely unwarranted. The church was always a political body and has done everything it coulod to maintain power over the millenia. As for the pecadillos of its members, well, they were always principly political animals so were not of any import.
Morality is indistinguishable from social proscription

Not the way I interpreted it, but you may be right. It's still just another dodge from accepting responsibility, though. The Church really has trouble controlling it's message on this issue. For every reasonable attempt to accept responsbility, there seem to be a half-dozen ... ill-advised, at the least... idiots that clearly don't get it.

I guess it all comes down to how you interpreted it :)

Well true ... :) I fear however they will never accept responsibility because that would mean they have to admit that even there truest believers (the priests) can't follow there own teachings, so how could anyone else.

Unless those damn lessons include 'How to fellate your priest' I'm failing to see the connection beyond a blatant attempt at blaming something they blame for everything else already. If there is one word I'd never use to describe sex ed it'd be erotic. And my teacher was even cute, but the mechanics of it are fairly boring, and after seeing a live birth w/screaming crotch burster, it really just didn't do it for me.
