that you are going to royally screwed at work today. I found out today in our company meeting that, apparently, I was "promoted" to Systems Engineer. Which means that I get to do things that I am not in any way qualified to do and get yelled at alot for it. I sure hope the job market picks up soon....

How about being demoted without being told because my manager "didn't want me to be mad"? That was a few months ago, and I still have several non kid sister safe comments to make about that whole situation.
I assume that one came with a decrease in pay? If so did he just think you'd find out when your bank account had an overdraft?

No, because the "promotion" I was given was only an increase in responsibility. Why should I get more money for doing more for the company?!? That's absurd!
So then why would you be mad when you got demoted back to having your original duties since it didn't involve a pay cut? That might boost my morale were it me ;P

I've been assigned to do things I'm in no way qualified to do for many years, without the benefit of the title and higher pay, and much to my surprise I've generally done the job far better than anyone would expect. In most cases, I'm flabbergasted to report, I've managed to do somewhat better than more experienced people have done. My theory is that, handed a task I have no idea how to do, I work harder and pay more attention to details that might lead to failure than someone who does it regularly would give to the task. That lets me catch things that would be overlooked by more experienced people, and gives me a fast education in a brand new skill. Give it your best shot, and I hope you didn't toss all the books for those classes you "knew" you'd never need, but the school made you take anyway. :-D

I've been assigned to do things I'm in no way qualified to do for many years, without the benefit of the title and higher pay, and much to my surprise I've generally done the job far better than anyone would expect. In most cases, I'm flabbergasted to report, I've managed to do somewhat better than more experienced people have done. My theory is that, handed a task I have no idea how to do, I work harder and pay more attention to details that might lead to failure than someone who does it regularly would give to the task. That lets me catch things that would be overlooked by more experienced people, and gives me a fast education in a brand new skill. Give it your best shot, and I hope you didn't toss all the books for those classes you "knew" you'd never need, but the school made you take anyway. :-D

Over a 2-3 year period, every time someone got new business cards, he quit. They actually got worried. :laugh:
