Hi Dalek ^_^ .. well, I'm an old/new member.. I registerd long time ago but never posted as long as I remember.. See, I'm partially Persian and Qatari.. so I know about both countries.. just to make you more curious.. Islam didn't say having a dark skin is not allowed!! and no, no.. Islam doen't dislikes white people >_> I'll post a clarification today or tomorrow, but now I'm in college and I have some work to do.. I'm posting this because I want to post a long reply, and it will require a lot of patience, hehehe XD Good topic by the way.. :cool:

I have no problem with people of any or no faith. My standing is that I am an atheist, and do not wish to be controlled by those who do have a belief. If you wish to obey the laws or customs of that faith then fine, but do not impose this upon others. But that I apply to all religions, it was just in this case Islam got the wrath. I dislike religion, and feel it ought to be removed from faith and belief. For religion causes good people to do bad things. I have several Muslim friends, and Jewish, and Christian and Hindu, we all get on because we all ignore each other's differences. What this mad imam was saying does not lead to peace, but to separation and separation leads to mistrust and hatred. Last week I was having a go at Catholiscism, next week it could be the Mormons, so do not think I am Anti Islamic, I am anto all religion.

Being Christian I do not agree with some of the things people do in the name of Christianity. Example: picket / bomb an abortion clinic. The way I read my bible it says you are to shake the dust off your sandals as you walk away but that seems to be forgotten. I sometimes wonder what other religions are based on and with the growth in extremist calling themselves Islamic I have wondered exactly what their religion is based on.

Iran has warned suntanned women and girls who looked like "walking mannequins" will be arrested as part of a new drive to enforce the Islamic dress code. That is incorrect: the "Islamic dress code" is simply to dress modestly. Iranian law mandates that women be buried under layers of fabric, with only hands (but not wrists!) visible, and even they must be hidden when possible. It is the Iranian dress code that is being enforced here, not the Islamic. I may be an infidel, but even I know the difference. If the article gets this fundamental(ist) fact incorrect, why should I bother reading further?

But that I apply to all religions, it was just in this case Islam got the wrath.” Well, for me as a Muslim, Islamic punishments are not very strict because they work.. they work in making any criminal think twice before committing a crime; the punishment will be sever if he/she was caught.. I really understand.. for people who aren’t Muslims or even some un-religious Muslims, the punishments may sound harsh.. I’m religious, but still open-minded.. By the way, some of my instructors are from the United States, France, Germany and other Christian or Secularism countries.. Some of them prefer to stay here in Qatar (Islamic country) because they find it safer for themselves and their children. Here: 1- Guns and knives are not allowed to be held by any person, except policemen and some police agents. 2- Beer and other alcoholic drinks are not allowed, so you don’t have to be afraid of being attacked by someone who’s drunk. There is a punishment for making or drinking alcoholic drinks. However, the government allowed alcoholic drinks in some of the famous hotels because some of its residents come from countries where drinks are allowed, so the residents want to have drinks in the hotel they are in.. plus, as I know , a hotel can’t have 5 stars without serving drinks to its residents... 3- Terroristic activities are not allowed.. There is a huge difference between Jehad and Terror.. What some people do in Pakistan and other countries, like bombing people in public places, is not Jehad; it’s Terror!! Fighting an enemy in the battle field is Jehad.. it’s a translation of saying a “War” .. this War doesn’t happen except if there is something holy to defend, and even if there is something holy to defend, fighting the enemy should be done with some morals.. for example, soldiers shouldn’t kill aged people, women, and children..Dalek: “I dislike religion, and feel it ought to be removed from faith and belief. An extremely sensible, well thought out and concise reply which I have enjoyed reading. Please post more often as I beleive you could play a valued part in these forums and help to educate me(and probably others) on a part of the world I dont fully understand.

I come from a culture that drinks, (Irish background - very drink orientated, British, home of the pub and North European, beer is culturally significant, and ex-army, so beers all round then! :) ). I do not see why I should be disbarred from drinking because someone esle doesn't. But, in return, I do not see the need to force my morals and views onto others. So, for example, I would not force Muslims and Jews to partake of certain foods, and when we barbeque in the summer, I ensure there are other options, Lamb and Chicken for example. It only takes a little thought, and no-one is offended or hurt. I find that most people in the world actually do not care about such matters, they are too busy working and raising a family to worry about what you do in private. It is a minority at the top of the Religions that get all upset, because that is what keeps them employed. I have been to several Muslim countries, and have never been publicly drunk, or caused trouble, but at the same time have been served beers and spirits by the locals. They don't mind, far from it, they are earning a living by working in the hotels and resorts and need the tourism money. So everybody wins. In fact I have a Muslim friend who does take a little alcohol, and insists there is nothing in the Koran stating you cannot, so long as it is in moderation. I think the line he uses is that you take nothing that removes you from God, and two beers is nowhere close to that. Shame there is so much division and intolerance, but as an atheist I sit on the outside, laughing. I will not get to heaven, but that really doesn't bother me, for I know there isn't one.

I wish all people who come to Qatar were like you =( Some changes happened in Qatar just because some immigrants don’t feel comfortable.. when we think logically of such situations, the guest (immigrant) should adjust him/herself to the rules of the owner of the house (Qatar), not the opposite.. However, part of the blame is for Qatar’s government; they should have explained how Islam’s freedom is different from the West’s freedom.. It’s mentioned that we, Muslims, should never go close to beer.. so, it didn’t say “do not” drink beer, but said “never go close to it”.. and that is more than not drinking it.. e.g., we are supposed not to go to bars even if we won’t drink..
