That's how long it takes to burn a CD on my new burner! I finally decided that enough was enough with my old (2+ years) HP 10x burner, after it failed to burn 5 out of 10 CDs. I couldn't even run it at 10x anymore, so I was using 8x (11+ minutes/CD). So, I went out and got me an LG 40x/12x/40x burner. Yeah, not exactly a Plextor or Sony, I know, but it was cheap (CDN$100), and it came with 50 48x CDs. :wtf: So far it's been amazing (buffer-underrun protection is NICE!), but I wish it had a larger buffer (only 2 megs) and it ran at UDMA 33. I was kind of hasty in buying it (it was a special offer), but after I switched it from PIO4 (gah!) to DMA, it's been "all good" [EDIT] Should have mentioned: this now means I have 3 CD drives (40x CD-RW, 16x DVD, 10x CD-RW)... Gotta love being able to just leave NHL2k3 in one drive, and WarcraftIII in the other, and still have an empty drive. [/EDIT] Me explaining it will be like trying to describe sex, it will just come out flat and wrong. [Paul Watson on the "The grass is greener..." commerical]
I hate to take your moment away (no, I really do), but I bought a Sony 48x/12x/48x just a couple of days back. No free CDs for me, but it cost me only 5050 Rupees (one US$ is approximately equal to 49 Rupees). W00t! Yes, buffer underrun protection is a nice thing to have, but 2MB is a little less than what I would like to have, though what the hell. <> But I know the feeling. Before I bought this burner, I had a (please don't laugh, please!) 4x (yes, four) thingy back from the days when men used to live in caves and technology hadn't come in vogue. X| What? Have LG also, but never burning more than 8x. Just because some of my friends still have old CD-ROM drives and it doesn't work good on them (others, including mine are ok). But this is the only reason actually :) Philip Patrick Web-site: www.stpworks.com "Two beer or not two beer?" Shakesbeer

Doesn't the Sony 48x come with 8meg buffer? :omg: Converting that price, that's ~US$100, which is ~CDN$160. wow. that's good, the Sony here was at least CDN$250. I figure the 2meg is ok because of the buffer protection, but still, I'm sure I'll overtax it someday and watch it fail. Kwakkie wrote: The only problem with LG: not supported by nero... :wtf:? Well, that's certainly not true in my case. Sure, I had to upgrade from nero 5.0 to 5.5, but that's not a problem. Paul Riley wrote: Don't knock LG, seriously I didn't mean it to sound like that. :-O However, Plextor and Sony (Plextor especially) have well-known names for providing quality burners. LG's foray into burners is relatively new, and they run at much cheaper prices (unfortunetaly, often mistakenly taken to mean a lesser-quality product). LG keeps the buffer at 2meg (my old 10x HP has a 4meg buffer) to help reduce prices (which help explains why my LG was less than half the price of the 48x Sony). Paul Riley wrote: They're almost as good and ten times as reliable True.
