So people saw your "explosives" stickers and still thought it was a good idea to follow you on to the aircraft? Jeez...

The laptop is the easiest part of the procedure. Take it out of the case including any accessories and put them all in a tray to be screened. Removing your shoes is annoying. Also you can not have any liquids in your carry on luggage that are in bottles that can contain more than 2oz. And then there is the random check where you can be taken aside and more thoroughly checked. Last year on the trip to Cozumel (stop in Houston) I got checked 3 times between the two flights very annoying. At least when I landed in Mexico I did not go through that again..

I had a big arguement with a security guy in Vietnam over wether I was allowed to take my contact lense solution on as carry on... They were doing the checks as some security deal with the Australian Gov and the instruction sheet he had clearly said that contact solution was allowed. He ended up having to call his manager to translate the part of the sheet i was pointing at

I'm traveling to Seattle tomorrow. Since I haven't flown in nearly 10 years, what are the security screeners doing these days to check carry-on laptops?

I am leaving New York City to Beijing to Bangkok tomorrow and was wondering the same thing. I have flown more recently than you have but with the recent attempted (terrorist) car bombing in NYC I wonder about what to expect about going through security at JFK airport. I am just going to arrive early and see what happens. What else can I do?

Well in Britain the guns were transported separately onto the plane. When we arrived in the states £25k worth of guns came out on the carousels along with all the other luggage.

You have to take the laptop out of its case, so the case and the laptop go through the x-ray machine separately. That's all. No need to turn it on, etc. The biggest PITA is not the electronics, but having to take off your shoes. Wear something easy to remove and put back on. Go barefoot. Whatever. :) Marc

No, I don't believe they do. As all the beautiful women in the world don't take a poop. Same thing. And it's a fact.

I know a guy who flies 747s and he still has to take his shoes off. He told them, all I have to do is push the stick forward..... but no, off come the shoes.

Speaking of streakers, do they turn up at the airport? /me puts on the voyeur glasses, and takes a seat next to Nishant.

True but we did get to the front of all the queues when people saw cases with bright orange stickers saying "explosives" and "firearms" all over them.

Basically there were 9 of us in a group of 12 (the other 3 were WAB - wives and brothers) shooting in the 07 World Championships so had to get our shotguns out there.

If I pass then I have another year left of the degree then have my job offer to accept which is near London - to qualify again I'd have to make regular trips back to Wales. Possible but the way things are going I have little time to do anything... Suppose it's good in a way.
