Ah, different in that respect yes, but I was thinking more in the model they use. (Dont forget prices vary across the UK but they still use the same model). The UK classically uses interets rates to controll inflation, M4. Classic Thatcherism. Not so in France, Belgium or Holland. And I think not so accross Europe. In fact the big factor blockijng the UK form joining the Euro IS its diffferent ecconomic model. Euro interest rates are way too lkow for the UK to handle (traditionally) or stable (raditionally and currently).

Yeah, and the accepotance of Poland and so on had a huge affect. Think of the CAP though as German reparations for the war, and you can see why it has to be scrapped today.

Yes, more war avoidance stuff. This part of the EU really needs reforming.

Can you really blame France and Germany for doing this though? I mean, the moment one of them decides to go to war, the other gets invaded and taken over. After that everyone gets mad about losing their champaigne and all hell breaks loose. If they don't have policies in place to keep Germany from starting a war, 3 blonde kids with sticks will get antsy and take over Paris, getting the rest of the country in trouble.

If I have accidentally said something witty, smart, or correct, it is purely by mistake and I apologize for it.

See Here[^] US vote 94-0 to let Greece fail! Thank you! That special relationship is still strong I see. If Greece fails, Germany has to do the entire bail out, so Germany will refuse and let Greece hang in the wind. End of the Euro, and hopefully the end of Federal Europe. The Nightmare could soon be over, and the UK could go back to being a sovereign nation. To all you Americans, thanks cousins. Once more we fought a rearguard action against our European Enemies, alone, until the Good ol' USA stood shoulder to shoulder with us!

I really think that Greece should have been left on its own. If they didn't like it they could leave the euro. Now every EU government out there will think it can have high deficits because it will get a bailout anyway.

Greece, which will have a debt of 130 per cent by the end of this year They are going to owe 130% of GDP. Sounds to me like Greece failed long ago. I guess they do serve as a shining example of the end result of wacky socialism. :~

As I have read your post, I have gotten a bit angry. ;) Until I realized you were not being facetious. Now I have gotten glad to see it is not just some of the 'whack-jobs' in the US who understand something about too much debt. I particularly liked the part about the other PIIGS borrowing more money to bail out Greece. Disclosure: I am an American. Oh, yeah, I also have a grandfather who came here from Greece. Why should I give them anything special because of it? OT: You never did tell me where your ancestors came from. :)
