I was only at the first day of E3, and only saw the PS2/Nintendo camps, but here are a few pictures from the event: http://home.inreach.com/mdunn/e3/e3_2001.html --Mike-- http://home.inreach.com/mdunn/ #include "buffy_sig"

This is off-topic, but how do I also learn to play games? :(( I really cannot tell if it is due to lack of time or interest. At my graduate school here in Japan, when Tetris "challenge" took over my lab, I managed to convence the Indian student who was No. 1 then to play one for me too. It was on a Linux system, so I logged on and he played the game in my name and the next day I was 4th on the chart ;P Even though I dropped a little later, it was enough to keep a little high profile in this game-loving Japanese society. Now the Tetris battle is over! since I am no longer in the school, but around me the game battle is still on. I used to promise my friends that PS2 will be my starting point, but it is here with us now and ... Sometime ago, my TV set and Gateway2000 PC were competing for my attention. The PC won the game and I asked the TV set to leave the room  I started studying computer graphics to program games and develop interest but ended with GIS software company currently. Am I normal? Please help too :(( Regards, Paul. I'm the same Paul - I used to be addicted to any game I could get my hands on but it's been a couple of years since I've seriously sat down and played one. Either I'm getting older or I'm getting wiser. (or I'm getting slower :)) cheers, Chris Maunder

Hello Chris, None of these is a good news, even though it might be the truth!!! Now, which is our sure pick 1. Getting older 2. Getting wiser 3. Getting slower Most likely, modern medicine could provide some cure! Regards, Paul. Geez Chris, you're missing out on some of the finest gaming entertainment out there. I play games to stay sane :) Nothing like a game to let u unwind for the day-you feel much refreshed, ready to program again after a while ;) For insane action, Quake 2's my fav. Of course, some of the better/addictive games u could try are Diablo 2 and Half Life (though I wonder if you've already played any) Wonder how many of our fellow codeprojecters play games? Did we have a poll?? Cheers, Shanker.

I still play every game I can get my hands on, everything from Black and White to Baldur's Gate II to Unreal Tournament. I don't like reading about the claims of violent games leading to violent youth, but that's another story... I just love letting off some steam in a more healthy manner. Instead of driving angry, I play Carmageddon II and kill a mess of pedestrians (perfectly legal in the virtual world). And, yes, I already know just how disturbed I am, but at least I don't take it into the real world, right? :-D I'm even so much into games, that I've been messing with DirectX ever since version 5. This version 8 is really so much different that I've got to rewrite most of my code! That's the Microsoft way, I suppose. Later, Jason

Hello Jason, I envy you. What will you recommend to we the non-gamers? We also wish to start, but just could not easily do it. Regards, Paul.
