Yepp, have been to the Giant's causeway and and also to some other places where one can see columnar basalts (e.g. at the coast north of Catania on Sicily, but those are not as impressive as the Giant's causeway).

I've seen those fire rainbows a couple of times, except the shape of them is nothing like that of a conventional rainbow ;P

I was at sea once, and this towering anvil head cloud got a bump on the top. A beautifully colored cloud formed in a concave disk above the bump. The bump lowered, but the cloud took a good half an hour to fade away. Each piece of it stayed the same color the whole time, even as it broke up. I think this was in 03, and it took me until 07 to get an explanation. The 'humid' air going up flash froze with all the crystals aligned across a broad area. This made them act as aligned prisms, so each area of the cloud had a distinct color. Normally, clouds have ice crystals at random alignments, and it averages out to white.

I've seen mammatus clouds before. It looked like the entire sky was full of giant spider egg sacks.

Fire rainbows (or circumhorizontal arcs) are fairly common in the US, and I've seen them on numerous occasions. I've never seen ones as remarkable as those in the pictures, however. I have seen a full double rainbow before, end-to-end, against a backdrop of dark clouds providing excellent contrast. You can deliberately see most of these wonders, but it's far more impressive to see ones where you just happen to be in the right place at the right time.
I don't claim to be a know it all, for I know that I am not...
I usually have an answer though.
