Actually with all due respect to Mitters, why would you not get another cat? I know FB is a crass prick with all the tact of a brick in the face but he does have a point.

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity RAH

Actually one of our cats was killed on the road years ago, leaving only her sister. I cried for a week so I do know how painfull it is. She wasnt even a year ol when it happened and she was the most loyal of creatures. She used to wait outside the house till you got home if you went out in the car and would go for walks with us. We got another one years later, which pissed the sister off for a few months, but you can never replace them really.

I'm not really sure how to respond.... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But in fact, we have three others. Mitters was the first, but after her, word got out that there was a soft touch in the neighborhood. The stray kitty network has our house flagged as the place to go. ;) :)

We had couple of wild kittens take up residence. THe neighbour now tries to look after them, but because we have two already, one of which is very young, our garden, and house, has become thier play den. Its not so bad though since its func to see them chasing ech other up trees and stuff.

... is no more. Some of you probably remember my post about our cat that had cancer and was part of a clinical trial of a new radiation therapy. Prior to the radiation treatments it was discovered that she had a bad heart. So bad that the protocol of several small radiation doses was discarded - she wouldn't have survived multiple periods of anaesthesia. So they did one big radiation fraction, and it did, in fact, totally kick the shit out of the tumor. Unfortunately it also sent her crashing into acute anemia. She was recovering - red cell count going up, getting better and better... until this morning, when she went into congestive heart failure. So I had her put down an hour ago. I have to drive the body to CSU so they can take a final biopsy and set of images. In exchange, they'll cremate her for me. My sweet little friend for 13 years, is no more. So long, Mitters. :(( :(( :((

I feel for you. We have eight cats and four dogs - all animals rescued in the local area. One dying naturally saddens greatly, but nothing like the pain of having to put one down, particularly as I insist on holding it, to make it feel comfortable and loved, while the vet eases the animals pain. It will never be easy. Each time we lose a pet, my wife puts a copy of this on the 'fridge door: http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm[^] Nonsense, I know, but...

R.I.P. Mitters:rose: When I had called my parents yesterday, my mom told about her cat getting lost. The cat also took with her 2 kittens barely 3 months old. We are all hoping that all 3 of them are safe and sound as my mom is very much emotionally attached to her cat

RIP Mitters, I'm sorry for your loss, I'm currently fussing over my little girl cat in hospital. This is possibly the best training for me for when I have children human children.
