Muir Woods (San Francisco) Cafe

CPians to the rescue! I'm off to Muir Woods, San Francisco[^] tomorrow to hug a giant tree or two. It just struck me that I saw somewhere that you can't bring your own "food" to pick-nick in the area. Is there a CPian around that have used their official Cafe facility? Specifically, is it possible to eat there, not just having a coffee and donut? (not that it'd be bad or so in general, but it's not my idea of trail hiking food...) Thanks!

I haven't been there, but I wouldn't be concerned. Pack your lunch, just don't lug around a big cooler.

It's been awhile but as I recall, there is a place to grab some food at the visitors center and a small picnic area. The no-eats rule is for the trails only.

We took our own food and ate there. There are benches in front of the cafe where you can eat your own food. The no-food policy is only for the hiking trails, and that's only so that wild animals won't be tempted to gatecrash your lunch party.

If you're taking a pick-a-nic basket keep a look out for[^].

It's very nice place (sp. the climate)... Dont forget to take picture inside a trunk of a huge tree (sp. with the kids if you have any). and if you are planning to drive from SFO to the park, then drive carefully... its bit trickey road. And yes we took our own food there... :)
