How did you get Comcast to give you a different IP?! I've tried calling them for a new IP, and they tell me they have no ability to issue me a new one. ( Which I don't believe, of course. )

depends on what kind of service you have. Business lines are permanent IP's (1+ depending on your level of service, our work has 5 permanent IP's), Home IP's are leased. I asked them to relinquish the hold on the Mac so I could handle the release from my end. From my end I release the IP, they release the MAC address hold, and then I request the IP again. You basically have to tell them what to do, because they don't know anything. I listened to the tech when he was here, the field tech's walk the people on the phone through the steps. So you have to know what to ask for. :)
