After kevinnicol asked an iPod related question and most of the thread converted on a Zune discussion, I'm wondering, how many here have Zune HD?, if you do, was the purchase after an iPod? if you do, do you have Zune Pass? It will be a good idea if we use the social part of the Zune too, I'm more than willing to send any my Tag so you can add me to the list and start enjoying that part

I want to die like my grandfather- asleep, not like the passengers in his car, screaming!

I owned an iPod since they released support for Windows; at that time it was the best player out there; and still is, IMO, a very good player, the only drawback is the lack of FM radio. I never really used the iTunes store for buying music, I mainly use Beatport, but on some occasion, I bought some releases (mostly rock stuff), and a bit more since there is no DRM on the AAC files. I'm not even sure where I could try/buy a Zune player in Montreal.

    Watched code never compiles.

Zune HD, of course (but you already knew that from the earlier discussion). I got your PM with your tag and will add you when I'm at home.

I like sandisk clip+ + $50 + teeny + holds a minisd for 16 gig plus the 4 on it + plays flac (unlossy compressed audio) + doesn't need HORRIFIC ITUNES SOFTWARE on your pc - boots a little slow - usb connection sometimes flaky - songlist kinda hard to get to I like it better than the rest.

iPod. can't remember the size, think 16 or 32G. Had a firewire one prior to that. (gen2?!) Does what I want, good clarity with proper headphones.

If I have accidentally said something witty, smart, or correct, it is purely by mistake and I apologize for it.

Sorry, that's classified.... :) men in black will soon be knocking on your door.... Enjoy the zune! I hope you forgive the sarcasm a bit, I love gadgets, but I can't hop on every bandwagon... so I wait and get the leftovers cheap. :) There are a few things I get first runs in, but with a few exceptions, they aren't usually very portable. :)

Not true, not true. I don't get any of that. When money isn't tight, we can get 1st run computers, I once got an SGI Onyx that was 13th off the assembly line. We bumped someone's order to get it. :-D I met the guy we bumped some number of months later at an SGI class. I rarely get anything more interesting than that, after all, I am a programmer, not a rocket scientist. ;)

I have two iPods: a 4Gb nano in the car, and a 120Gb classic that carries my entire music library to/from work. I've tried other players, and like the UI on the iPod. I tend to use iTunes solely to manage the iPods and my playlists, as I don't play music directly on the computer.

My phone can play music files (and games) (and take pictures) (and do e-mail) (and just about everything else) (including video calls -- Steve Jobs take note) (but I have trouble remembering phone numbers), and I've got a pair of Sennheiser buds for it. Why should I bother cluttering my pockets with more average-tech junk? Actually, that's a serious question -- is there really a good reason to get a separate music thingummy -- especially if it doesn't play vinyl? ;)

For me, having a separate music player means I'm not using my phone's battery to play music, thus leaving more of it available for calls, texts, emails, and reminders. Since I listen to music pretty much all day long, it'd be quite a drain on the phone battery.

iPods of varying generations and capacities -- mostly the full size (a couple of 80 gb Classics) a Nano or two and a 16 gb 2nd gen iPod Touch. Bucking the trend, I've bought a number of tunes from the iTunes store and even use it to manage music and videos on my system. Nowadays, I tend to buy video from iTunes and music from Amazon, and use iTunes to manage everything. I did look at the Zune when it first came out (when it was a rebranded Toshiba player, heh). I am kinda eyeballing the Zune HD, but haven't had a compelling reason to get one yet. :) Flynn -- surprisingly not an Apple fanboi despite iPod evidence to the contrary... :-\
