I have waited and waited for an update from Microsoft when Windows 7 mobile will be out , but I cant wait any more. I am forced to make a choice . Windows 6 a soon to be killed off OS , Apple ( I would rather French Kiss a skunk ) or Android. Thanks Balmer , you pushed a willing buyer into the arms of your rivals by not telling me when 7 is due . I can only guess its a long way off?

Well, you made a smart choice by getting Android - the best mobile OS out there. Developer handsets for Windows 7 are going to be released veery soon - may be July. But don't have high expectations with Windows Phone 7. It is the first release of an OS which will lack many features of Android and iOS. Some people even think it is Dead on Arrival.

You're a professional developer, and you're pissed off that a company won't give you an exact release date for the next version of software? Hey, I like to pick on MS as much as the next guy but dude, seriously, you're going to have your pocket protector confiscated if you keep this up. :)

Currently everything I have heard points to an "official" relase date as "Holiday Season 2010", which realistically means sometime between late October and early January.

You're a long-time user of MS software, right? Then you know better than to ever buy a 1.0 product... And regardless of what it's based on or what they call it, W7mobile will be a 1.0 product: new dev model, new distribution model, new UI... With a bit of luck, they'll be pre-announcing the closed developer preview release of v3 by the time the contract runs out on your new Android phone. ;-)

I love the vibe of the iPhone, but I ain't buying any device from a company that's such a control freak that I even have to take it to an Authorized iStore to change the freakin' battery. I think one of the big advantages of the Droid stuff is that you don't have to join a cult.

LOL! Depending on how you look at it, It is also a cult - cult of penguins which you hate so much. I love technology so mundane considerations such as cult or no cult does not effect me. What matters to me more is whether I am getting value out of a particular product. It was iPhone in the beginning, now I think Android has the edge. Android phones such as EVO 4G give me more value than the iPhone so I will move to Android. Now if Microsoft Windows Phone 7 gives me something worthwhile (very unlikely at this time) I will move to that.

:) Whenever I refer to WevenJS I try to remember to coin mark it in honour of the coiner of the phrase, the venerable and esteemed outlaw programmer that is John Simmons. Since I have never before seen Windows Mobile 7 referred to as MevenHM I have decided to claim it for myself and have coin-marked it accordingly. :-D

Isn’t it the other way round? I am more of a consumer of the services by the company. :-D

There's at least the consolation of knowing that the VP responsible for the Windows 7 Mobile fiasco was fired. (Though not soon enough, which is Balmer's fault.)
