Well, I've got 2010 and 2008 installed without any problems but why would you want all of them installed?

Not really. Sometimes you leave the old versions installed for older projects that were never converted (for whatever reason). Still 4 versions is unusual. But 2 versions is quite common, and even 3 wouldn't be that unheard of.

I have all 4. No problems whatsoever. Except, that is, for a lack of ability!

I wish that were the case then I would know what was wrong with me... But I'm forced to have a simialr set-up, because we have old legacy apps to support that aren't worth updating...

In the past I ran 2003 and 2005 side by side without any problems, and I currently have 2005, 2008 and 2010 all running on my main dev machine. The only issue I run into is if I open a solution by double clicking the project or solution file it always tries to open in the latest version of VS installed and asks if I want to convert the project. I just have to open the proper version then browse for the project or solution from the open project dialog, so it's not that big an issue. Really no problems at all.

How about with VB6 and Visual FoxPro 5 (can't remember the reasons given as to why we can't upgrade to a later VFP) thrown into the mix as well?

Yeah. Most hard drives can't handle having that much crappy software installed on the same partition, and their nature is to deficate all over your computer the minute you try to access any version.

I would create a virtual machine and reinstall old versions in it, and that would leave just one version on your main desktop, thus enforcing your hatred of the legacy apps that you have to maintain.

You might have an issue with the debugger of the last one installed always popping up when ANY version crashes. It's probably set somewhere in the registry (good idea for an article)
