I suppose it's good if you win. Otherwise you've just developed a piece of software for free, that they have full rights to so that they can sell, copy, modify and redistribute without you getting anything in return. You may however get some exposure as a developer or small company.
My current favourite quote is: Punch them in the face, see what happens!
