That is a fair point. My only reason for participating in these forums is because they are fun and I try not to take them too seriously (doesn't always work!) and I tolerate the offensiveness and stupidity because I know I have been (hopefully not offensive) but clearly stupid from time-to-time. Yes, there are people here who clearly just want a fight but why worry? They are all faceless cyber fluff - you can just as easily ignore them as get drawn into pointless discussions.

A good argument can be fun. But there are some for whom no evidence is enough, or when presented with evidence of their own wrongness dismiss it as offensive.

Another good point. Still, just ignore the ignorant fuckers is what I always shout.

It's not a question of offence. It's more a question of reasonable use of my time, and a question of how happy I am with the behaviour that this forum is inspiring in me. It's not you guys, it's me. :-)

Yes a "good" agruement is fun, but never one where someone never listens to anyone else point of view or plain outright response with abuse. IF CSS gets moderator privs I'm off period as this would only make it one of his platforms to give unbias dribble on the plus CG sad to see him go, even if he's seen as a grumpy old man

*grin* yeah, that's the joke I was attempting to make. But, in this case, it's true. I'm not trying to say I hate you all, or that I blame anyone else, I'm just saying that I like myself better when I am not being sucked into endless, useless online arguments.

I am posting this entirely for my own benefit, so I am reminded that I said it, and hopefully therefore refrain from the temptation to look back here. It's clear to me that there's a small handful of people in this forum who just want to be offensive, or who are plain stupid. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the side of my personality that is revealed when I am forced to deal with such people. I guess the death knell for this forum was when Oakman started his little forum ( which is no better than this one, I have no intention of going there, that would be pointless ). I'd rather spend my time having reasonable discussions and getting some work done than getting sucked into the bottomless pit that this place has become. The core issue then, is that I won't be moderating in here. Anyone else want to put their hand up ? Not that I get to choose, but I wouldn't mind having a name to present to Chris when I tell him I have quit.

It is true that you become a dick quite easially: http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/3515965/Re-GISS-2010-warmest-spring-ever.aspx[^] I make a perfectly good point about the complete inconsistency of scientific statements regarding climate (all during a period when CO2 was increasing) and all you say is 'bleat bleat, I am right and I cant be bothered explaining why to you'. You dont even have much to discuss about guitars, which lets face it, is far more inmportant in life than religion. ;P What is odd is that you shy away from a forum that brings out what you see as the bad in you. Shouldnt you use this forum in order to set your house in order? :)

No-one 'caused' it especially. I've been thinking about this for a week or so. The last few days did seem to reinforce my thoughts on this, but it's something I've been definitely thinking about for a few days at least.

No-one is perfect. I can try to subject myself to conditions that make it hard for me to be the way I'd like to be, or I can try to be the best I can be. I prefer the latter, I know I'm not perfect, I don't have to pretend that I am.

That's a seriously disturbed forum there.
