...Minesweeper causes the driver to stop responding! MINESWEEPER of all things! Around since at least Windows 3.1! Granted, my video card is an antique in computer years (GeForece 6200 512MB, purchased almost 4 years ago to the day), and I am running Windows 7. But still, I find this rather ridiculous/amusing. First my monitor keeps flickering every now and then and I get the "Nvidia driver stopped responding but recovered" message. Then I get all kinda of colorful lines across my screen and everything freezes, prompting a reboot. Then, when I try to play minesweeper again, it flickers and says "No suitable graphics device found" and closes! New card (Radeon 5770 1GB) scheduled to arrive Friday!:-D Maybe now I can start playing some of my games again without freezes or reboots. Dybs

I have that same card in my server (old spare computer for friends to use) my server console is smooth as butter :D I just got a 5770 a few weeks ago and it was a very nice upgrade from my old 8800gts 320mb and it runs most of my games close to max settings (change a few to medium) at 1920x1080res and get very playable FPS. Its currently bottle necked by my processor. c2d e6600 @ 2.9ghz.

mobo and cpu are next on the list. Currently running Mach Speed MK8-939A motherboard and 2.0 GHz Athlon 64 3200+. I'll probably upgrade to a core 2 Quad, maybe i5 or i7, not sure yet. Need more money before that point, though. :) For now, I can still get by on what I have.

Ya a new mobo and cpu would help a lot, but this will definitely get you by.

I am running one of those too, but I think I need to keep it around for the rest of our winter still :)

If you're looking for a good strategy/tower defense game to test your spiffy new graphics card, I recommend Defense Grid[^]. You can get it on Steam for $10.00 ...it's highly addictive.
