To follow up on Robert's guitar thread, how about guitar amps? Surely as religious an issue as guitars or Programmers Editors. Here's my current stable: Main workhorse for live gigs: Rocktron Voodu Valve 1 rackspace preamp, has a 12ax7 in the pre stage Fully midi controllable Anything from warm & fuzzy to Eddie Van Halen melting glass Coupled with an EV power amp, 2 Crate 1x12 w/ Green Celestians (stereo) The most incredible amp I've ever owned! Line 6 Pod Pro Used primarily for biamp situations in the studio Amp simulation, fairly convincing But did they have to model the hiss??!?!?!! Marshal JCM 900 (I think) 50 watt, dual channel 1 slant cab with Green Celestians Turns out 50 watts is too little for stage volume with a good rock drummer... Fender Blues Deluxe Good for the crunchy R&B (that's Rhythm & Blues, folks) stuff, but the Voodu Valve does it just as well! Gibson Lab Series L5 Solid state amp from the old days on the road Used to couple it with a Boss Overdrive pedal for rock Built in compression was sexy in its time Mostly gathers dust now, or used for a keyboard amp in jam sessions So, what do you guys run through? The volume on the Marshall is marked 0 to 20. I'd never seen Spinal Tap when I bought the amp, so I didn't initially get what I'm sure was a good joke from their engineers. :-O Chistopher Duncan Author - The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World (Apress)

I've only got my Peavey Supreme (solid state amp) and a 4x12 Laney cab. The only effect I use is a Dunlop Crybaby Wah-wah. Don't need any of those fancy midi pedal boards to step around on! btw, gotta do some promotion now, I'm a guitarist for a death/thrash band here in Sweden called Arise, check it out on: http://www.ariseonline.com[^] Second album to be released early next year! / L-G --- $> cd /pub $> more beer
