Talivan Quiz

Lets see how good you are a spotting the Talivan (Mobile Speed Cameras) http://www.speedcam.co.uk/game.htm[^]
Two heads are better than one.
Surely that's entrapment? You cannot see the cameras in most situations, whilst driving it'd be near impossible.

One of those is round the corner from my flat! The one with signs to Banbury, Gatehouse Industry etc., it's there pretty regularly, very sneaky.

Despite what you see in American films, entrapment is allowed in the UK (e.g. to catch shopkeepers selling fireworks to minors). As long as the officer doesn't actually encourage the offence, it is not deemed to be entrapment.

 It's hardly like the Police are encouraging you to break the speed limit. There's only one person in charge of the speed of your car.

It's things like this that just infuriate me. Why aren't they out catching the twat in a van and the twat in a Polo I saw on my way home last night? They were having some sort of argument - god only knows what about. The van driver overtook the Polo and immediately slammed on the anchors to 25mph - from 40mph. When the Polo tried to overtake, the van driver started weaving all over the road to prevent the guy from getting past. That's the way it stayed for about a mile. Where were the Police - ohh yeah, that's right: sitting on their arses waiting for a load of cameras to catch people so that they can fine them for going about their normal days driving sensibly and safely.

Fair enough, maybe 'entrapment' isn't the correct word. But take normal speed cameras for example. They have to be yellow, there has to be signs etc. But with these new cameras, they just seem to set up a camera that doesn't stand out, situate it away from the van down the road and all is hunky dory.

Not for me it didn't. Several minutes before your post. So unless it takes you forever to type 6 words, you are confusing two similar pictures.

Yeah, I think I've used the wrong word to describe what I'm thinking in me noggin. The cogs are a little rusty ATM.

So? Just don't break the speed limit! This is total hearsay and could be utterly wrong, but I heard that in New Zealand speed cameras are hidden as a matter of course, and it's done a lot to bring down traffic speed.

So you've never ever gone over the speed limit? I'm not saying that I blat everywhere at 100mph - far from it. I never go above 80mph, and most of the time I stick to 70-75mph. But, sometimes you need to go faster than the limit. Sometimes you need to overtake someone to get out the way of a lorry - or get away from the blind spot. Sometimes you need to make way so that the people coming on to the motorway can get on. And its at those times that you can get caught by these cameras.
