Retired after 24 years

I have just been at drinks for a bloke who retired today after 24 years at his last job. I have been here 15 years (My third "real" job.) How long have you been in your current servitude?, ...oh I mean job. :doh:

This is my first job: Ten years of services just few moths ago. Still a long long time before retirement... ...If I ever reach the Retirement age. ...And if "Retirement" will be still available here in Italy at that time. (OMG) :doh:

Agh: could not contemplate the same place for 24 years! 3.5 years is my longest since I've been in IT. But I would love to retire: sadly that is still a little way off. Oh well, back to the grind stone (sound of weeping). :)

That is impresive. I have one guy working for me who is on his third watch (we get given a watch every ten years of servece.)

I used to work for a big american printing company with printing facilities all over the world - every year they would print a magazine for the staff - one of the features was a long service page showing photos of people who had worked there for years - some had been there for 50 years - those people had rarely progressed beyond warehouse assistant.

Started out on my own 20 years ago and still loving it. Actually for the first 3 years I was doing a full-time job as well to get the dev work done.
