A recent trip to Europe has convinced me that the governments of the world have been rocked by the power of the internet and are seeking to gain control of it so that they will have a virtual monopoly on information that the public is able to access. In Italy, Germany, and Britain the anonymous internet that most Americans are still familiar with is slowly being modified. If one goes into an internet café it is now legally required in most countries in the European Union to present a government issued form of identification. When I used an internet connection at a Venice hotel, my passport was demanded as a precondition and the inner page, containing all my personal information, was scanned and a copy made for the Ministry of the Interior -- which controls the police force. The copy is retained and linked to the transaction. For home computers, the IP address of the service used is similarly recorded for identification purposes. All records of each and every internet usage, to include credit information and keystrokes that register everything that is written or sent, is accessible to the government authorities on demand, not through the action of a court or an independent authority. That means that there is de facto no right to privacy and a government bureaucrat decides what can and cannot be "reviewed" by the authorities. Currently, the records are maintained for a period of six months but there is a drive to make the retention period even longer.

"Hi, I'd like to have internet at my house" "Yes sir, can you please provide me with you name, address, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, and a credit card where we are going to charge you the service" Your account is linked to your credit card and of course your personal data "I want to apply for your college" "Of course, you are accepted, can I have your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER please, your name, etc etc" Your student ID is linked to your social security number and personal data "I want to work for you" "Sure, you're hired, can I have your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, name, etc etc" Your income, position, etc is linked to your social security number and personal data... Do you think that the government doesn't know what you're doing of your life right now? they know when you change jobs, get a raise, buy a house, start studying, when you get internet at your house, a new credit card, they know everything, and you have been accepting that since you were born!!! your life is a number!!! how fast do you think the government can track you down if they want to?, do you remember the Patriot Act? where you guys accepted and gave the government too much power to monitor your life? and that wasn't done by Obama btw, probably W. Bush was your idol, he was the one who did that law... how do you feel about it? still support it? in the name of freedom? do you call that freedom?? the government watching your communications, they have been doing that for years, and now because Obama is there is his fault?? how silly you are

Bob learnt to read, did you? People like us DO campaign against the injustices in this world. Some of us talk directly to government using unofficial channels to get our views heard. Taking ID cards as an example, the government while in opposition were being lambasted for the last year over the concerns. I remember last summer, talking to Osbourne - now Chancellor - about their plans and he said that it was no brainer to scrap it if they got in. They were against them, the people were against them and the country couldn't afford them.

- To exist, the ruling class must concentrate wealth in its own hands
- To do this it must keep its citizenry in fear.
- The ruling class therefore creates fear in the citizenry through the means at its disposal.
