I take it its Japanese, since you are learning it, although it doesnt look like katakana of kanji.

はい、日本語でした。 There are three different syllabaries: Hiragana (ひらがな), used for Japanese words when there is either no Kanji or a reason to not use them; Katakana (カタカナ), used for foreign words and onomatopoeic words, or just for effect; and Kanji (漢字), which are basically adapted from Chinese and are honestly the best part of the language.

Despite what it's origins were in the French language, it still has other meanings in English. This is why English is the largest language.

Okay: I was tempted to look cos you replied so quickly and bugger me if I don't agree with what you said!
