iPhone 4G or HTC Desire...?
-
My iPhone 3G contract is up tomorrow and I fancy a change - my choice is between an iPhone 4 (very expensive and not too impressed with Apple at the moment - I made the mistake of installing iOS 4 on my 3G and bitterly regret doing do) or jumping ship and getting an Android phone - with the HTC Desire being top of the list. My only worry about Android is: a) How do I sync music to it? b) Are they plenty of good quality apps and games? ... in particular are there any decent e-book readers? (Project Gutenberg especially.) So, any Android fans out there? Anyone else jumped from iPhone -> Android? If so, any regrets?

The Project Gutenberg website recommends two applications - the Aldiko Book Reader and FBReader. I'm not sure if either of these will work quite the same as iBooks, but they're probably worth a shot. Amazon have also released Kindle as an Android application, which could works. For reading PDF files, I downloaded an app called PDF Reader, which is reasonable quality - I've known it to crash on large (10 MiB) files. As far as I can tell, syncing music to it is fairly simple - just copy the files across. WMP does something similar with the Sync tab. Effectively once the phone's been plugged into the computer and you've told said phone to mount as a USB device, it's seen as a memory stick.

Get an app off the market called "double twist", there's a desktop version that syncs like iTunes. Alternatively you can just copy stuff onto the memory card.

Loads. Too many to name, but in terms of e-book readers, Kindle is there, as is another big name, can't recall. No-one should be touching the iPhone4 with a 10 foot pole, flawed design, and Apple lied (surprise surprise) and created a false ad campaign to try and mask the issue.
