As a (very) amateur, but enthusiastic photographer, I found this http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/02/microsoft-algorithm-uses-six-axis-motion-sensors-to-fix-blurry-s/[^] extremely interesting. Unfortunately, I suspect it will spend some time with the military before we see it in a dSRL - and I am not at all sure how big a 6 axis inertial sensor needs to be. :^)

Well, it depends on how much you want to pay for your IMU. There are some really tiny one chip integrated triple axis accelerometers and triple axis gyros. Or, from hobby electronic stores you can buy custom boards like this one: Sparkfun electronics 6-DOF IMU
