More details here[^] This became a fashion in recent time but for this instance I am with the guy who dared to do this, Zardari deserves this and with respect to my previous post yesterday now it's proved that Pakistanis hate Zardari for being so insensitive towards the disaster over there. He is a failed leader when it was the need of hour for whole nation. Now the question is why would rest of world support and donate for Pakistan where Mr. President is at receiving end of shoes? Note: Please move this thread to back room or soapbox if it doesn't fit here.

One elderly man threw two shoes, both of which fell short. Hardly a 'pelting'!

It's time for a new signature.

Pakistan should not be judged by western standards. To do so is highly contentious.

Agreed, but enough for a protestor.

The role of a President in Pakistan, India etc differs greatly from such places as the USA and are nothing more than namesake authorities. The real power in Pakistan lies at the hands of the Prime Minister or rather, the military Generals.

What value? btw wasn't me that uni-voted you. Seems like no one understands that conversations can involve discussing a view point tangential to your own and neither party gets upset at the others views. Presumably a quaint and old-fashioned notion!

Mark, voting doesn't bother me one way or the other. It never has. It never is my intention to cause others to get upset with whatever words I use, and where I have upset people, then, with certain exceptions, I am generally apologetic. That said, my words "The value placed on human life" could have been said with greater clarity. I wasn't referring to their financial value but their social, educational, health & welfare, religious and their potential future prospects, by suggesting values in Pakistani society is markedly different from western ways. I have, to some extent rectified that in a reply to Richard MacCutchan with those various references. Although I don't care much for people's personal blogs, partly because they too can be a source of one-sidedness, but there seemed some interesting points that was raised in some of them, but that does not mean I fully accept every word stated. The final resource was from the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress, so presumably there are elements of truth when that document was authored.
