How many email addresses do you lot have now? I have about five - thanks to Google, MS live, and the fact that I kept forgetting my "throwaway" account details. But now, the wife wants to check a cat food offer, which wants a sign up. OK, lets see... Yep, have a new email dear: "Dontsendmeanycrap******@******.com" is available - that will do nicely... So off she goes, she now has two as well! Oh, bugger, I forgot three for the web site - make that about eight...

Other than work: 1 yahoo 2 gmail (trying to phase out one) 1 throwaway gmail for dodgy sites 1 rediff that I don't use any more 1 fastmail that I don't use any more 2 gmail that I used for GmailDrive (not sure if they are even active) :sigh:

Cheers, विक्रम (Got my troika of CCCs!) After all is said and done, much is said and little is done.

4 or five... Main address is hotmail (at the time it was better than yahoo and gmail did not existed). Others are gmail, yahoo (used because of flickr, never used), ISP email, my own domain email (forgot the password and is never used, I think) I should move everything to one address and keep one other for junk stuff. M.

        Watched code never compiles.

What no throwaway for those sites which insist on a signup before you can see how good / bad they are? I certainly don't give them any email I check regularly - or indeed, at all... :-D

Only two – one yahoo which I rarely use and one gmail, which from some time is not exactly “mine” because my wife is using it too.

My spam filters (server and Thunderbird client) take care of that!  I do end up getting tons of spam every day, but almost all of it (like 99+%) is autorouted to my Junk folder. /ravi

I get about four spam items a week - and my spam filter moves that so I can check it later. It's made (important) mistakes before! And before you ask - this email is about ten years old...

1 Work. 2 private gmail. 3 public gmail. 4 DNS registration gmail. 5 legacy imap. 6 legacy pop. 3-6 are all forwarded to 2. Actually I'm not even sure if 5 and 6 are still up. The last time I needed to use one to retrieve a password was almost 18 months ago. Without Gmail's spam filter they would've been nuked a few years ago.

10 :sigh: but five of them are for an voluntary organisation where I happen to be wearing too many hats (some which I will be relieved of in a few months, hopefully :) ). The rest are business and private and a bragging one - @computer.org :-O

I have... * A personal Gmail account, * Two work email accounts, one for general work email, the other for communication with a specific team, * My university account, which I use mainly to get spam from other ex-students who now work as "salespeople", aka spammers, * A Hotmail account for subscriptions, news (YaY! CodeProject Daily News!), etc., * I-don't-remember-how-many Yahoo! accounts, which I used to play Yahoo! Chess, when it was still decent. These days I only use them to recover the games I saved as chess notation. I am also planning to get a MobileMe account, but I'm not sure about it yet.

If you can play The Dance of Eternity (Dream Theater), then we shall make a band.

I created a spammail-website for this thing, in swedish. It's free and available to anyone if you want to try it - http://storastyggainternet.se. If you don't know swedish and want to try it, just send an email to <whateveryouwant>@storastyggainternet.se and get it at http://storastyggainternet.se/<whateveryouwant>. So now I have 2 "static" email, work and private, and 1 legacy(msn/msdn/live account). Works out fine. // Eric

I have about : 3 yahoo (2 probably auto closed by now, 1 I keep for spam and old accounts I don't want to switch to my new address) 1 own domain 1 gmail (With several + filters for nearly everything. I use the YourAddress+Whateveryouwant@gmail.com type addresses very frequently.) 1 ISP (Not used. Ever.) I use the gmail one as my main for personal stuff and the domain address for professional/business (non-day to day job) type stuff and the old yahoo one is kept for legacy accounts that I can't switch over and for accounts I don't want to clutter my gmail with. Using the + filters help significantly with spam. For your cat-food example, you could use YourAddress+catfood@gmail.com and once you receive the emails you need, or start receiving spam, just set a filter to send the emails sent to that address to spam. Of course, not everyone sees email addresses with a + as valid. For those I use the old yahoo "spam" account.

Only two – one yahoo which I rarely use and one gmail, which from some time is not exactly “mine” because my wife is using it too.

personal, Work, (and like 5 or 6 others that I never use)

I'd blame it on the Brain farts.. But let's be honest, it really is more like a Methane factory between my ears some days then it is anything else...
