What a great vacation

We didn't take her into any actual pubs while there. We did take her into the Cheers bar though and as usual, she was really well behaved. I think we got really lucky in that she's very patient and friendly.
Cool - that's good to hear. When you go on vacation with a toddler, the toddler plays a huge part in dictating everyone's general mood. So if they behave, it greatly enhances the experience for everyone! :-)

This past week my wife and I have been on my first vacation in 2 1/2 years. Our first as parents and we decided that Boston was to be that place. Taking a child on holiday completely changes what a vacation is. Baby stuff like stroller/pram, diapers/nappies and all the things you never had to cart around when you were a couple just going out for the day. Luckily we were in one of the nicest cities I've ever been in. Not only is there plenty to see and do in Boston, but it's not a huge city which means you can walk to pretty much anywhere you want to get to without carting things up and down subway stairs all day. Boston contains some of the nicest people we've had the privilege of meeting. People actually stood up and gave their seats for my wife and child on the subway! People were friendly and helpful and what a culturally diverse city. Oh, and it was good to hear the word 'pub' again.

Good to have fun :) Boston has a zillion sights to see! Haven't been to Boston/Mass since 1995. Wow, time flies. Both my sisters were born there (well, Framingham and Cambridge). Best Lobster and Bass I've ever had was from Cape Cod. I know what you mean! The first trip we took was to Lebanon, I was an observer at the elections at the time, and we had to carry a ton of stuff!

I LOVE Boston, esp. Faneuil Hall area. Just a wonderful city. Saw my first ice hockey game there :). Bruins vs. the Oilers. Great game, but I had no idea what the ice machine was. Kept the locals quite entertained with my ignorance. Still need to see the USS Constitution.

To be honest, I hadn't noticed that. I thought that as you like fish, had been to Boston and are (or were) a demi-gourmand, that you might have heard of Scrod[^] and even got a laugh by coming back with the standard rejoinder[^], or even "Do you mean to say you went to Boston and never got scrod?" Well, not to be a pedant, but I wouldn't be upset about it, I just don't swing that way. If however it were to, hypothetically speaking, be "unleashed" upon me, drop bears[^] style, I would then be quite unpleasant about it. Just to be clear, that was a very hypothetical situation. This conversation never occurred.

We took pictures of the Constitution, but didn't want to play around with the stroller and a just awakened 20 month old child, so didn't go aboard. The USS Cassin Young went in dry dock as well. Although, I did take an awesome picture of her bow looking down the dry dock. We were thinking of events to go to and looked up the Red Sox, unfortunately they weren't playing home last week. Oh well, Blue Claws game this week, I'll settle for the minor leagues!

You took your toddler into a pub? How did he/she take it? Rohan (my 3 year old) has behaved quite alright in places like B-Dubs, but I haven't yet taken him to a "proper" pub.
