I just realized, I've been working for 6 years now. Started on 01-09-2004*. Switched jobs only once - and what timing that was! 3 months after I left, they sold themselves to Big Bad Financial Institution That Shall Remain Nameless, which fired more than half the employees. Working has been many things to me, but it's been very challenging, and I like it a thousand times better than college. How long have you been working? * Note to Americans: over here, we write dates correctly. ;P

Added smiley - there's something wrong when a tongue-in-cheek comment garners the most responses. And yes, yyyy-MM-dd is way better than any of the other two formats.

Cheers, विक्रम (Got my troika of CCCs!) After all is said and done, much is said and little is done.

I prefer to work in AP (After Pete). Thus, all dates are referred to as numbers of seconds since people become aware of me; I like to keep them on their toes constantly calculating. It's not a perfect system, but it's mine - and as everybody else is but a figment of my imagination it's not my problem.

I have CDO, it's OCD with the letters in the right order; just as they ruddy well should be

Ability to define proper date format[^] Just kidding of course.

Not when 99% of users habitually give dates in the latter format without thinking.

Only in the states! Europe, most of Asia, China and I think India all use the more sensible format. Your view is quite parochial. The only reason mm/dd/yyyy gets a look in outside the US is that it is the windows default format!

It's been 41 years for me, first in restaurants and other school-support jobs, then 13 years in my chosen profession after graduation, followed by 14 bad years of low-wage subsistence work in a variety of jobs, and now in my second chosen career for nearly 6 years. I still miss college, though, but that's a door forever closed to me now. All of those experiences, however - the good and the bad - have been instrumental in forming who I am, and I regret none of them. :)

Different parts of the world??? How 'bout different parts of America? This place is one big, diverse, complicated disfunctional family. Frankly, I'm surprised we can even understand each other. :)

In many cases we can't. I watched a documentary on the tube about gangs in Little Rock, Arkansas and throughout the show when one of the local residents spoke they had subtitles. I was rather astonished by it. As an experiment, I would often turn my head so I couldn't read the subtitles and I could understand them just fine. It made me wonder who can't understand them but I guess many people can't if they went the expense of adding subtitles to the show.
